These are delicious cookies have a flavor reminiscent of Sicily and remind me of the Easter holidays I spent in Trapani following the magnificent processions of the Mysteries.

Almond and Candied Orange Cookies

  • Preparation time: 30 minutes + resting time in fridge
  • Ingredients for 50 cookies
  • Difficulty: Easy recipe

  • Ingredients
  • 400 grams of almond flour
  • 20 grams of honey
  • 80 grams of candied orange
  • 320 grams of sugar
  • 140 grams of egg whites
  • Icing sugar to taste
  1. Instructions
  2. Chop the candied fruit and sugar in a food processor. Add the other ingredients and continue mixing.
  3. Pour the mixture into a piping bag and form the cookies onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  4. Put in the fridge to set for at least 12 hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F).
  6. Bake the cookies for about 15 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and let them cool.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar.

Tips to ensure the success of the dish:

  • Resting the cookies is important to allow them to lose moisture and maintain their shape.
  •  The cookies shouldn’t darken too much during baking, so it’s best to check them every now and then. The baking time is approximate and varies from oven to oven.
